Application of Sodium Bicarbonate Industrial Grade
1. Chemical use
In the process of preparing many other chemical raw materials, sodium bicarbonate, as a basic chemical raw material, is an important component and additive. Sodium bicarbonate is also used in the production and treatment of various chemicals, such as natural pH buffers, catalysts and reagents, as well as stabilizers for the transportation and storage of various chemicals.
Sodium bicarbonate has excellent chemical properties and good physical and chemical reaction efficiency against acidic and oily substances. It is an economical, clean, and environmentally friendly cleaning agent that plays a very important role in industrial and household cleaning. At present, traditional saponins have been completely replaced by baking soda in various household soaps around the world.
3. Metal industry applications
In the metal industry chain, sodium bicarbonate is widely used as an important smelting solvent, forming agent for sand blowing processes, and concentration ratio for flotation processes in many processes such as beneficiation, smelting, and metal heat treatment. It is an indispensable and important material.
4. Environmental protection applications
The application in environmental protection mainly focuses on the discharge of “three wastes”. For example, sodium bicarbonate is used for tail gas desulfurization in steel plants, coke plants, and cement plants. The water plant uses sodium bicarbonate for primary purification of raw water. Garbage incineration requires use to neutralize toxic substances. Some chemical and biopharmaceutical plants use soda powder as a deodorant. In the anaerobic treatment of wastewater, sodium bicarbonate can serve as a buffer, making the treatment process easy to control and avoiding methane. At the same time, it also plays a role in inhibiting bacteria and cleaning wastewater. In the treatment of drinking water and swimming pools, sodium bicarbonate plays a significant role in removing lead and copper, as well as regulating pH and alkalinity. Sodium bicarbonate is widely used in these industrial sectors.
5. Other uses
Sodium bicarbonate is also an indispensable and important material in other industrial production fields. For example, the film fixing solution used in film studios, the tanning process in the leather industry, the finishing process in fiber warp and weft weaving, the stabilization process in spindle spinning in the textile industry, the fixing agent and acid-base buffer used in dyeing and printing in the printing and dyeing industry, the foaming process of porous rubber and various sponges produced in the rubber industry, civil soda ash mixed with soda ash, and important components and additives in fire extinguishing agents. The comprehensive use of baking soda is very extensive, even in agricultural seed soaking.
